What makes True Blue® vials different from standard yellow level vials?
Empire’s True Blue® vials are precision-machined from solid acrylic and utilize a proprietary blue liquid that offers significantly higher contrast against the bubble. This makes it much easier to read in direct sunlight or dim indoor environments. Furthermore, they are UV-resistant to prevent "clouding" and are engineered to be accurate within .0005 inches per inch in all working positions.
What is the difference between a Box Level and an I-Beam Level?
  • Box Levels: Feature a fully enclosed, four-sided rectangular frame. This design offers maximum strength and resistance to twisting (torsion), making them the most durable choice for heavy-duty framing and masonry work.
  • I-Beam Levels: Utilize a lighter "I" shaped aluminum frame. These are generally more cost-effective and easier to handle for long durations, featuring a protected center vial while remaining highly rigid for general carpentry.
How do I check if my spirit level is still accurate?
