- Spiral point taps have shallower flute passages; giving them more cross-sectional area for greater strength; higher tapping speeds; and less power necessary to drive them
- Also commonly referred to as gun taps
- XL22 Spiral point taps have three flutes for easy-starting; less tooth load; and greater strength
- Necked design for deeper tapping; which promotes the flow of cutting fluid
- Can be used in blind hole applications so long as there is sufficient room at the bottom of the hole to accommodate the chamfer length and the chips produced
- Special surface treatment cut tougher materials including stainless steel and protects cutting edge
- Made from premium high speed steel; which is heat treated for hardness and toughness

- Available from 4-40 through 3/4-16
- Available in combination tap and drill sets
- XL22T is Titanium Nitride coated which promotes longer tool life and faster speeds
